Alan Barth: " Thought that is silenced is always rebellious.  Majorities, of course, are often mistaken.  This is why the silencing of minorities is necessarily dangerous.  Criticism and dissent are the indispensable antidote to major delusions."

The Lapeer County Equal Rights Alliance is a 501(c)4 non-profit organization of, by and for residents of Lapeer County, Michigan.  We are a diverse group of individuals committed to helping all residents of Lapeer County make secure the full enjoyment of their civil and human rights.

We advocate equal rights and protection for all people;  and, realizing that no one is free while others are denied equal rights, we are committed to the broader equal rights' movement - a movement embracing all people regardless of age, class, culture, disability, ethnicity, gender, ideology, nationality, religion or sexuality.  We oppose ignorance, discrimination, bigotry and fear and embrace understanding, tolerance, acceptance and love.  If there is inequality or injustice in our communities, we will be there to fight it and promote equality and justice no matter the cause.

We are especially focused upon the misson of (1) providing strong personal and community support, and (2) providing legal and judicial advocacy to fight the discrimination and abuse in our county.
